According to the current Housing Corporation Regulatory Code and Guidance (2005), Housing associations must be “viable, properly governed and properly managed”

Being “properly managed” means that properties should be well maintained and lettable with efficient and effective repairs meeting legal and contractual obligations. In addition, it also requires housing associations to be mindful of sustainability and environmental issues.
